Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3! What's wrong with it?
I just don't get it. Full keyboard and mouse support, some customization options, and some of the best traditional FPS gameplay. You can even download mods and put them on your PS3 to play from the PC version. So what the HELL is wrong with it? Why isn't anyone playing. It's practically impossible to find a lag free game. Unreal Tournament 3 would probably be the best FPS out there if there were just more people playing. I guess I could pick up the PC version because I was going to anyway to make mods. But since my PS3 is graphically better than my PC I was hoping to mostly play on there. Even with the controller the game is fun. Come on guys! Play some Unreal Tournament 3!
[UPDATE] December 27th 2007... There are some Midway Dedicated Servers that have been added for the PS3. But I AM hoping to get the PC version soon. I REALLY look forward to making mods for the PS3 and the PC. I just hope the PS3 tools come out soon. The mouse side of the keyboard/mouse support seem to be a little sketchy but I'm sure it will be fixed soon. Playing with the controller is fun and on dedicated servers the game is incredibly fun.
Please folks, at the VERY LEAST pick up the game for the PS3 or the PC. I know you have a PC, your reading this. I have to say that this is one of the best FPSs I've ever played. I know there were tons of games out this holiday season, but this is one you shouldn't miss. Also, you know that in six months when there are hundreds of mods you'll REALLY want to buy it then. SO just pick it up now, use that gift card you got for Christmas.

Art of Midway is coming!
"Want to be a video game designer?I all ways love these art books, they are SO COOL.This diverse collection of concept art highlights the most recently released video games of Midway Games, including the rich mysterious worlds of Mortal Kombat, the science fiction of Area 51 and Psi-Ops, the high fantasy of Gauntlet, the eerie horror of The Suffering, as well as several new games that have not yet been announced. Of special interest to many fans will be the inclusion of art from Stranglehold, the recent project (due May 2007) from Visual Design Director Stephan Martinière. Most of the images contained within have never before been published in any form."From Designstudios press...

Unreal Tournament 3 to out Halo 3, Halo 3!
The demo for Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC just went up today. I downloaded it on the slow and crazy Fileplanet severs and was playing around the time that the demo went active at 3 PM EST. I was probably playing by 3:30. I have an old PC, not in the biblical sense but in the technological sense. It is a single core 2.4 Ghz machine with 512 MB of RAM and a ATI card with 128 MB. I looked it up once a few weeks ago and the PC is worth around $300. The demo runs so smoothly and so quickly that all the reservations I had about buying this game are gone! When I get a new PC I can turn everything up and really enjoy the graphics. But all of the effects are on and a lot of the textures are on. The game runs SO FAST it's like I'm playing the Unreal Tournament 2 on this machine. I just pre-ordered the collector's edition so I can make maps for the PS3 game that is coming out early next year. If this game looks as good as it does on a high end PC and runs as fast as it does on my PC on the PS3. This will be my Game of the Year for 2008 for the PS3. I don't care what else comes out, nothing is going to trump this title.
This will be the first game I've ever bought on the PC and the console. It will be the best $120.00 I've ever spent! If Epic and Midway need more time to get the PS3 version right; I say give them all the time they need. It will be worth it.
Oh yes, I was going to talk about Halo 3 wasn't I? Halo 3 is a great game. I believe I gave it an 8.5/10. The graphics are great and the multiplayer gameplay is one of the best ever. But if Unreal Tournament 3 came out on the PS3 this holiday season with the proper hype it would beat the living stuffing out of Halo 3. Fortunately for Microsoft and Bungie they have been given a reprieve. If there was a game that would be system seller for the PS3, this is the game to do it.
Unreal Tournament 3 should be bigger than Killzone 2. But the hype just hasn't been there. If Midway would put some money behind this title and get some commercials and maybe a hardcore gaming tournament, featuring Unreal Tournament 3 it might really help sales. Instead of assuming everyone knows how great UT3 is, maybe Midway, Sony, and Epic need to be sure people can't miss it.
Halo might be big, but Unreal was big before the XBOX even existed. With it's latest installment it could be the BIGGEST of all. XBOX 360 is the shooter platorm, Midway needs to push this game on to the 360 as soon as they can after the PS3. With the higher install base and the interests of that install base it is necessary. Whatever they need to do to fix everything so that games can be uploaded on to the 360 needs to be done. Whatever network sharing, hyperthreading, whatever needs to be done. It will be good practice for when new content comes out for the Orange Box later next year.
Microsoft needs to get a grip on this whole closed network thing and figure out how they can have a secure environment and a place for players and developers to share software and information. You know. the way they did with EA.
Until then, Halo 3 might be KING but the REVOLUTION IS COMING!

Seems Unreal Engine doesn't like PS3 too much!
PS3fanboy reports," Underneath the depths of a crater-sized hole left from their earlier Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 delay, Midway CEO David Zucker also made a rather bold statement about Midway's future Unreal Engine-based PS3 releases. Citing "technical issues of the Unreal Engine 3.0" as the main culprit for the PS3 delays of Stranglehold, Area 51: Blacksite and of course, Unreal Tournament 3, the conference call also included the assurances these technical issues have since been worked out, barring PS3 delays for future multiplatform releases in 2008 and beyond.
Hmmm ... color PS3 fans bemused and slightly suspicious. After all, we're still left with a lingering sting from the triple whammy PS3 backhand they've dished out. If anything is certain, it's that death, taxes and occasional game delays are all but inevitable but we just hope Midway can stick to their guns to make one of those things, a thing of the past. Imagine ... no taxes! [Insert lolz here.]"
All so interesting, seems that the wonderful Cell processor seems more trouble than it's worth. I wonder if this means that Unreal Tourney 3 will only be marginally earlier on the PS3 than on the XBOX 360. I'm picking up the PC version and the PS3 version. I love making maps and playing on them. Unreal Tournament 2 was my favorite game back in the day. Can't wait.... Anyway, this shows that the PS3 still has some way to go before they are going to be able to compete on an even playing field with the XBOX 360.
